Student Senate Mission
The mission of the Northampton Community College Student Senate is to serve as the voice of the student body through shared governance across all of our campuses. The Student Senate does so by; promoting cooperation between administration & students, developing and maintaining college spirit, serving as a liaison to governance committees, the Board of Trustees, and administration, and encouraging superior standards in leadership, loyalty, honesty, and respect.
TStudent Senate is also responsible for allocating funds to student clubs as well as approving special funding requests and any new student clubs at the campus. Student Senate may also take on special projects or initiatives on behalf of the student body at the college. Student Senate meetings are held every Tuesday at 11AM both in-person and via Zoom. Meetings are open to all students at the college.

Student Senators
The Northampton Community College Student Senate is made up of 21 members, including 12 at-large representatives, 5 Pocono Campus representatives, 1 Fowler Campus Representative, & 3 Student Senators who represent special populations including at least 1 senator for online students, first-year students, and non-traditional/part-time students.
Elected Student Senators also select five officers including a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, & Public Relations Officer. These officers are chosen during the beginning of each fall semester. Some members of Student Senate also serve as Dean’s Liaisons to each of the academic schools at the college as well as the Board of Trustees and to the President of the college.

Calling All NCC Students: Serve on a Governance Committee
Student Senate appoints student representatives to serve on various governance committees at the college. The Northampton Community College governance system is designed to provide a means by which recommendations to the President and Board of Trustees can be made. Students who are appointed are required to attend meetings and provide a report to Student Senate at least once a month via email during a Student Senate meeting.
Students interested in being appointed by Student Senate to serve on a governance committee should complete the Willingness to Serve Form below. Applications to serve will be open from August 25, 2025 to September 19, 2025.

Student Senate appoints full-time and part-time students to the following governance committees:
(5 students): The College Life Committee develops, reviews, and makes recommendations on policies related to college life (including student rights), nominations and student recipients for awards, annual calendar of cultural events, and allocation of funds for special events. Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of every month at 3:30PM via Zoom.
(8 students, 2 from Pocono): The Disciplinary Committee functions to hear appeals and offenses as deemed appropriate. Meetings are held as needed.
(2 students): The Curriculum Committee develops, revi121`ews and makes recommendations on all new and revised credit programs, creation or deletion of courses, revision of courses, proposals that have broad curricular impact. Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of every month at 3:30PM via Zoom.
(4 students; at least 2 from Pocono): The Academic Appeals Committee reviews matters related to appeals of grades, appeals of penalties for academic dishonesty, and appeals of actions related to the policy on professional conduct, and waivers of graduation requirements. Meetings are held as needed.
(2 students): The Academic Policy Committee develops, reviews, and makes recommendations on newly proposed institutional academic policies, changes to existing policies, and additions or changes to graduation/admission criteria. Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 3:30PM via Zoom.
(2 students): The College Diversity Committee takes a project and action-based approach toward achieving the goal of creating a more inclusive campus community. Meetings are held once a month via Zoom.
(4 student seats): The Arts Advisory Gorup works on special art projects and committee members participate in art exhibitions, other campus art initiatives, and overall engagement with the arts on campus.
(2 student seats): The Retention Task Force, headed by the Dean of Students, works with departments across campus to increase retention of students at NCC by finding issues and working to create solutions. They meet regularly once a month throughout the semester.
(1 student seat): The Committee leads campus-wide sustainability initiatives and advocates for eco-friendly policies at the campus.
