Upcoming Courses:

The role of the emergency vehicle driver carries great responsibility. The penalty for not adequately training an emergency vehicle driver also carries legal consequences for the emergency service organization and its personnel. Emergency vehicle drivers have been held both criminally and civilly responsible for their actions. VFIS developed this program to teach emergency vehicle drivers proper driving techniques that include the mental as well as the physical aspects of the driving task. The program stresses the long-term impact of a collision involving an emergency vehicle on the emergency vehicle driver, the emergency service organization and the community.

 

Prerequisites: Minimum age of 18 by first day of class and a valid driver license. - Prerequisites must be brought to the first day of class.

 

May 23 & 24, 8am-5pm

 

Location: Vigilance Hose VFC

This course provides the fire fighter with an introduction to basic pump construction and theory as well as operating techniques. Emphasis is placed on getting water to the pump, getting water from the pump for hose streams, and prevention of common mistakes in pump operations.

 

Prerequisites: Fireground Support or Essentials Basic Module - Prerequisites must be brought to the first day of class.

 

June 1 and 8, 6:30-10:30pm

June 14, 8am-5pm

 

Location: Lookout VFC

This course will allow the student to practice and further refine his/her ability to effectively and safely perform the fireground duties normally assigned to truck companies.

 

Prerequisites: Truck Company Ops - Prerequisites must be brought to the first day of class.
