Student Orientation

Congratulations on Becoming a Spartan!

IMPORTANT: There are no more orientations before classes begin on August 22. Here are some options for new students who haven't completed Orientation yet:

  • Mid-Fall and Accelerated II Fall courses begin Sept. 28 and Oct. 16. Registration is open now.
  • Our 4-week online winter courses that begin Dec. 16 and new students can begin registering Sept. 29.
  • Spring classes begin Jan. 19 and new students can begin registering Oct. 26.

Orientation dates will become available again in September. In the meantime, you can fill out the sign-up form on this web page and select the option to be notified when additional dates are made available.

We are incredibly excited to meet you! In order to register for classes, most new students must attend a Student Orientation.

  • Guest/visiting students are not required to complete Orientation but participation is encouraged.
  • Incoming dual enrollment students are required to complete Orientation. Dual Enrollment means you are a current high school student who will remain in high school while taking classes at NCC.
  • All other new students are required to complete Orientation.

Most sessions are online and last 60–90 minutes.

Fall classes are open for registration. Before signing up for classes, complete orientation and meet with an advisor. We encourage you to complete orientation as soon as possible.

During Orientation, you'll learn about sending in your transcripts, completing your FAFSA, logging into your Student Workday account, accessing your NCC email and more. When possible, we recommend that students join the online sessions from a computer or laptop rather than a mobile device.

Before you register for Orientation, make sure you've completed your NCC application. Need help with your application? Watch this short video.

Orientation dates will be announced soon for September. To be alerted once they become available, fill out the form on this page and select the option to be notified about upcoming sessions.

Did you sign up for Orientation but need to change to a different date?

To switch dates, all you need to do is sign up for the new date using the form on this page. You'll receive a new confirmation email.

Orientation FAQs

Part 1 of New Student Orientation is a Zoom call that lasts 60 - 90 minutes.

After Orientation Part 1, sign up for a one-on-one meeting with your academic advisor. Before Orientation Part 2, you should have submitted your transcripts and checked your placement testing requirements.

To find your advisor, log into your Workday Student Portal. Under "Your Top Apps," go to "Academics," then "View My Support Network." There, you'll find your advisor's name, contact information, and in-person and virtual drop-in advising hours.

Register for Classes

If you are required to take a placement assessment, you should complete that prior to meeting with an academic advisor as part of Orientation Part 2.

Placement Assessment Information and Eligibility

Yes! New students must attend a mandatory orientation. Orientation is an opportunity for you to take important steps before classes start, including setting up the technology you'll need at NCC and preparing your academic plan.

Guest/visiting students are not required to complete Orientation Part 1 but they are strongly encouraged to complete this step.
